What better teacher of holding fast to vision than one who flies high above the day-to-day annoyances that can grind a human into dust? What better instructor of the healing power of music than one who celebrates each sunrise with a song? What better educator of the power of community than a flock that begins and ends each day together?
I can think of no other. I am a fledgling student in this avian university. I’m not sure what notes to take or what material will be on the test—though I’m pretty sure that there will be one. For now, I am content to rest here, allowing my anthropocentric prejudices to melt away, as I study my feathered faculty.”
